The 4 keys to Academic Success
High school can be one of the most distressing times in a teenager’s life. Not only are there social and peer pressures to deal with, but the added trauma of the expectation to perform is always present.
Once upon the fifties, high school was seriously glamourized by the likes of Sandie, Danny and Frenchie – even Marty McFly! Then Bryan Adams got in on the act when he reminisced “those were the best days of my life” in the summer of ’69. Back then, high school was real swell.
But the reality now is that things are very different. Nowadays, school is hard. School is demanding. And school IS totally stressful. As a matter of fact, a study carried out in 2015 by Mission Australia found that nearly 40% of students between 15 and 19 were worried about how they coped with stress.
And, according to REACHOUT.com, among the main reasons for this stress are…
- homework and school (particularly during exam time)
- expectations and pressure to perform well at school
(from parents, family, peers, etc.)
- life changes, such as leaving school, getting into university or finding a job
- lack of time; having too much to do mixed with feelings of being unprepared or overwhelmed
Another international study into student welfare discovered that Aussie teenagers top the rest of the world for being under amazing amounts of pressure to succeed, especially exam anxiety.
Yet another survey by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development found that girls suffered more academic anxiety than boys, citing that the fear of making mistakes is so strong that it often ‘sabotages’ performance levels, even among A-graders.
Before working with Advance Academics, I was a completely different student with average grades, because I was always losing tasks sheets and leaving studies until the last minute. Things really started to improve after learning the easy and practical strategies taught in the online course, especially as I learnt that my grades weren't a reflection of my ability, but my constant state of disorganization. I went from a C standard student to achieving straight A's throughout my Senior Years and graduated with a high OP score.

Though all schools are affected, the trend seems to swing mostly towards students in elite schools. Parents pay considerable tuition fees and may expect nothing short of top-tier university admissions for their children. Teachers are also under pressure to improve students’ test performance, so may inadvertently transfer this over to them.
In the end, new ways need to be found to boost students’ motivation to learn and achieve without causing excessive fear of failure.
And that's where Advance Academics can help.
Advance Academic Training made my schooling life easier than I ever thought it could be. The video lessons in the online course are simple to follow and easy to understand. I learnt how important is to manage time efficiently, which allowed me to achieve higher grades. I studied more effectively without leaving things to the last minute, which gave me more time to review and improve my work. Being so organised reduced my stress levels and I noticed a big difference in my happiness. I am so grateful that this course was accessible to me, and highly recommend the course to anyone.

How does Advance Academics help students?
We help disorganised, distracted, inefficient students use their time and resources efficiently. Students often struggle with disorganisation, resulting in inefficient and ineffective study that increases stress and reduces the level of work they produce. By showing them engaging and practical strategies to overcome these, they grow not only as a student, but also as a person.
Many have no real idea how to prepare for school assessment. We guide them to practically implement targeted and personalised assignment and exam preparation strategies. We also help students overcome any difficulties they may have in a particular subject.
We take stressed-out or demotivated students and show them ways to overcome these blockages, helping build their own self-motivation and confidence to reach their goals.
How can Advance Academics help parents?
With over a decade in the education sector – specifically mentoring high school students, one-on-one – Advance Academics ultimately helps teenagers overcome the barriers to achieving academic success via specially developed practical strategies. These go towards improving students’ confidence and grades, which significantly reduces the stress levels experienced by parents as they struggle to help their teenagers cope with the high demands of school.
Motivation Is Key
If you’ve ever heard…
“I can’t be bothered.”
“It’s so boring.”
“There’s too much to do. I’m so stressed I can’t keep going.”
“When am I ever going to have to do this in real life?”
… you’re not alone. Students struggle to apply themselves to their school work because they are often overwhelmed. They don’t reach their potential because they’re simply not motivated to succeed.
Advance Academics will train your teenager to become independently motivated and driven through time-tested strategies at home, like
- Goal-Setting
- Attitude Alignment
- Stress Management
- Positive Self-Talk
Organisation Is Key
With distractions like social media and busy lifestyles to maintain, organisation is one of the key areas of difficulty for many teenagers as they struggle with last-minute assignments and leave exam studying until the night before. It’s an exhausting and stressful way to get through high school (for everyone involved!).
Advance Academics will guide your student in effective organisational strategies that work for them as an individual, like:
- Time Management
- Task Prioritisation
- Study Space
- Term Planning
Preparation Is Key
We all have varying levels of natural intelligence, but the most successful of us rise to the top through character traits and good habits, more than natural ability. The good news is that these strategies can be learned.
Advance Academics helps your teen maximise their natural potential through core academic skills and strategies, like
- Study techniques
- Assignment planning
- Problem-solving
- The list goes on and on
Personalisation Is Key
No two teenagers are alike, so a one-size-fits-all cookie cutter solution simply won’t ensure that your child’s specific needs are met. Specifically tailored, personalised mentoring is a must for academic success.
Advance Academics will deliver the very best in personalised academic mentoring, offering:
- Subject tutoring
- Accountability
- Personality profiling
- Learning and habit assessments
Teenagers can study from the comfort of home...
The Advance Academics eCourse offers the very best in personalised academic mentoring and tutoring to enhance organisational, motivational, stress-management and study skills, and ultimately allow your child to reach their personal academic potential.
Rather than a focus on subjects, we place emphasis on the fundamental life skills required in order for your teenager to be able to access their education effectively (motivation, organisation, preparation and personalisation).
The eCourse will allow students guided access to a collection of instructional videos, quizzes and useful supplementary resources through the duration of one term.
The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives

Your Instructor
As a personality trainer, I am more than aware of my own personality strengths and weaknesses. I am a mixture of the outgoing, sociable Popular Sanguine, and the driven and determined Powerful Choleric. As great as that may sound, it also means that I’m naturally messy and forgetful, as well as being pushy and critical!
Over time, I have had to learn strategies to help me become more organised and less critical, while harnessing those natural strengths and putting them to good use. Other than my stubborn addiction to coffee (iced latte anyone?), a key passion of mine is to see young people also learn about themselves and implement strategies to help them become successful and confident life-long learners.
For me, academic success isn’t just about letters on a report card or a number on an exit statement (though these are a welcome by-product!) Academic success is when our Advance students get in touch years later when they’re at uni to let us know that they’re still using the term planning techniques we taught them. Or when one of our year 10 students finally has that ‘aha’ moment and says, “You know, assignments are actually way easier to do when you plan them.” Or when parents report less arguments and nagging because they finally feel as though they understand how to help their child get truly motivated about their education.
Academic success comes when students understand themselves, and are equipped with the right strategies to apply to their learning.
Academic success is built on Motivation, Organisation, Preparation and Personalization.
